How to Make Mutton Biryani In Pressure Cooker

Okay, so you are in the right place at the right time. Before jumping directly to the mutton biryani recipe, let me tell you that you can make mutton biryani in a pressure cooker as well as in a deep pot. A pressure cooker will save you time and will cook the mutton quickly. So let’s jump into the mutton biryani recipe 

How to Make Mutton Biryani in Pressure Cooker

Ingredients:

1kg mutton(bakre ka ghost)

2tbsp ginger garlic green chili paste(adrak lehsan or Mirchi ka paste)

1tsp turmeric powder(Haldi powder)

1tbsp red chili powder(Laal Mirch powder)

1tsp garam masala powder

1 cup yogurt(Dahi)

½ cup chopped tomatoes(tamatar)

1 cup chop coriander(dhania)

1 cup deep-fried onions dry(taly hue payaz)

¼ cup mint leaves(podina)

2 tbsp ghee

3-4 cinnamon sticks(dharcheeni)

1 tsp cumin seeds(zeera)

3 bay leaves(Kari pata)

4 cloves(loung)

4 cardamom(elaichi)

5-6 green chili slits(sabz Mirchi)

Salt(namak) as required

Strands of saffron(zafran)

½ cup milk(dhoodh)


For the rice:

½ kg basmati rice(chawal)

1 tbsp ghee

3-4 cinnamon sticks(darchini)

 1 tbsp of cumin seeds(zeera)

 4 cardamom(elaichi)

 3 bay leaves(kari pata)

 4 cloves(loung)

 5-6 tsp ginger garlic green chilli paste(adrak lehsan paste)

 Salt(namak) as required

Instructions: 

First, soak the rice in a bowl of water to get rid of the dirt.

Now take a deep pot pour in water twice the measurement of rice.

Add all the spices, cinnamon sticks, cumin seeds, cardamom, bay leaves, cloves, ginger, garlic green chili paste according to the measurements mentioned above in the list. Also, don’t forget to add ghee into it so that when the rice will be boiling, they won’t stick to each other and form a shiny layer of ghee.

Till the water comes to a boil. Take the opportunity to use this time to marinate the mutton for mutton biryani.

Take mutton in a big bowl first to wash the mutton with clean water then drain the water out.

Take a small bowl to combine all the spices, add yogurt, ginger, garlic chili paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, green chili slits, strands of saffron and salt mix them then add the mixture onto the mutton and mix it with mutton.

Till the marinating process, the water will come to a boil. Add the rice in the boiling water and let the rice boil

Now take the pressure cooker to add the marinated chicken, chopped tomato, and milk. Close the lid of the pressure cooker neatly and make sure that you have closed the top tightly. Turn on the flame with medium heat.

Check the rice when the water comes to a boil; check some rice grains if they break softly, then congrats rice is ready. Now take a drainer bowl and drain the water out from the rice place the rice aside.

After 5 – 6 whistles, turn off the flame when the whistle comes to rest, open the lid. Check the mutton that is it cooked or not. If not, add some water, turn on the flame again, and cook the meat on high heat. 

When the mutton is ready, and rice is also prepared what you are waiting for, let’s do the most satisfying part of this whole process of the mutton biryani recipe first, take the pot in which you boiled the rice 

First, put a rice layer, then add some mutton gravy and mutton, again add another layer of rice. The leftover mutton and gravy sprinkle some coriander and fried onion.

Close the lid and place the pot on the flame with low heat only for 5mins so that the whole dish will get the fantastic smell of the mutton masala.

After 5mins turn off the love and WAIT, don’t open the lid. Just wait for the last 5mins so that everything sits perfectly. 

After the previous 5mins open the top and just smell the mutton biryani does. It smells heavenly now with alot of love mix the layers lightly so that the rice grains don’t break.
